Damn Me

Have I mentioned I don’t like heat... How about the red/blonde hair, fair skin and being easily sun burnt??

I went to today’s PGR mission fully knowing of my short comings. I ate twice my normal breakfast (two pop-tarts), before noon I had drunk 4 bottles of water and I ate a power bar around noon. As the service ended around 1300 hours, I got light headed... I had to sit down or I was going to fall down. Now trying to ride a bike with no real sence of balance isn’t a good thing. So, I rested for a few minutes and tried to get up and about fell down again... the procession to the cemetery left without me. I laid in the grass behind the church for about 30 minutes and made it north about 1 mile to a gas station where I got some Gatorade and some cheese crackers. Sat there for about 30 minutes. Took this pic of a thermometer under the canopy at the gas station.

I’m just glad no one from the family saw me about passed out.
I know it is hard to see, but the needle is pointing at 100... in the shade...

Thanks Queen...

Yeah, Kat, I was way too close. Dizzy, nausaus (sp?) heart pounding and major headache.

Glad you're ok. Gotta stay hydrated. I prescribe beer.

Okay, maybe not at a funeral. Or while riding. Gatorade is prolly better there.

Be careful, dude!

If you have a heat stroke once it will affect you the rest of your life.

It has been a busy summer but I just had to catch up on your blog and say hello.

BE CAREFUL.

DNR,

Glad you had enough common sense to stay put and recoup. Water water water...

You got two pop tarts for breakfast? I need to start having breakfast around your place. lol

Thank you for attending the services yesterday. I wanted to attend but I knew the heat was going to be very tough on me.

Glad you're ok.

Og - Wish I could have had a beer. But I know alcohol is very bad for dehydration. Looking back I think it was more of an ‘eat something’ thing than a dehydration thing.

Dirk - Thanks for stopping by, It has been a busy summer. I know, I just need to stay out of the heat.

Jeff (a.k.a. Kat) - heh, I thought it was cute that Jeff said ‘Yikes’. No one knows heat stroke issues better than you two. I’ll be careful, promise.

Dazd - It was tough, I wanted to be part of this one bad. I was RC too, which really made/makes me feel like shit for getting sick. We all do what we can, I know we’ll see you in the flag line soon.
